Fundraising for the Cybersmile Foundation

Last week, while browsing my Twitter feed, I stumbled upon a post by Mr. Richard Armitage in which he was clearly stating his support for a new (at least to me) foundation. Don’t know about you, but usually I am quite into this kind of stuff and believe we can all find a way of helping – from donating, to volunteering or to just spreading the word. Maybe it doesn’t seem like much, but that is how you build up anything, step by step, brick by brick.

Now, getting back to our topic, from that post I ended up going to the Cybersmile Twitter page, which inevitably took me to their Official Website. The very bright and cheerful website is a source of information regarding what their main goal is. The key questions answered there would be:

1. What is the foundation’s purpose?

They are committed to tackling all forms of digital abuse and bullying online and work to promote diversity and inclusion by building a safer, more positive digital community. They believe that everyone should be able to enjoy being part of the new connected online world as regular and productive use of the Internet has become essential to a healthy social and personal development. They aim to help both the bullied and the bullies. Ambitious, isn’t it? However, they do seem to have some results.

2.  Are they aiming to help just once specific age group?

No. The Cybersmile Foundation realises that cyber-bulling bares no age boundaries and they address everyone: teenagers, adults, pre-teens, parents, etc. A more detailed category can be found on their website, together with personlised videos that were design to tackle the key problems for each generation.

3. How to get involved?

You would have the classic ways of getting involved: volunteering, donating or fundraising, but you also have a sort of faster one through their community forum. The idea of forums has gone a bit down in the latest years, however the foundation still seems to support and promote it and I do think it is a good idea. For this type of situations it can be the first line of defense, and the fastest way to build someone up when they are not at their best.

4. Do they have a specific feature we should know about?

They have a #PositivePlaylist that is designed to put a smile on your face. From what I can tell, the playlist is formed from suggestions from their supports and they are always open to suggestions. So, if you know an upbeat song don’t hesitate to recommend!

5. Who are their supporters?

From Patrons to Ambassadors, The Cybersmile Foundation has the support of more than one well known name. A full list can be found on their supporters page, along side with details regarding each of them. Considering the long list, I would simply advise to have a look on their website. I do want however to mention the importance that supporters seem to have nowadays, especially when it comes to celebrities and their fan bases. It is truly moving how fans can mobilize themselves and back up their favorite artist when it comes to charitable acts.

That being said, if you want to know more about The Cybersmile Foundation, have a look on their website or on their social media pages.

Also, if you are interested in directly supporting them, Richard Armitage has officially set up a Just Giving page dedicated exclusively to raising funds for the foundation.
