Rockin’ For Your Life Returns to N5 Live at The Gunners in Finsbury Park

Friday, February 5th, I saw the return of the live independent rock and alternative Rockin’ For Your Life to the Gunners in Finsbury Park in North London. It was a triumphant line up featuring Candy And The Dead, Tango Pirates and Spider Redundant.

spiderredudant5Starting as they meant to go on, the nighted kicked off with the fantastic Candy And The Dead who rocked the stage with their Goth n’ Roll/ Post Punk tunes. I especially liked the Mad Max anecdote and the song Children of the Dust.

This four piece have an awesome on stage presence with a tight sound that got the crowd going. All of this just goes to show that Zach Rembrandt has come a long way since his early days in Australia. I’d never seen them before and they certainly live up the desire to create something dark and edgy.

Next up to take the stage were the phenomenal two piece Tango Pirates; with their brand of Rock n’ Roll with a hint of Punk, they rocked the stage, keeping the momentum of the night going together with Danny Fury’s captivating vocals. This is another band I hadn’t had the pleasure of seeing before, but given how their set went down with the audience, I’d see them again, they were awesome!

Headlining the event were Spider Redundant, who kicked things up a fair few notches with their fan favourite tunes including Generations Divide and Scars And Stripes!

It’s awesome to see this four piece on stage again, they rock! I’ve followed them for years, and they certainly give the fans what they want, especially with the terrific Write My Name. I’d personally like to hear a return from Symmetry and A Thousand Different Ways, but I’m not sure that is on the cards, would be nice though.

All in all, Rockin’ For Your Life came back with a bang. It was awesome to see and hear the bands. Roll on April for the next Rockin’ For Your Life event at the Gunners. Though I don’t know what the line up is yet, if it is half as strong as this one, then you are in for a treat!
