Art on the Underground presents the world premiere of a series of new works by composer Matt Rogers. These works will be performed live by the London Sinfonietta across the Victoria line.
Art on the Underground’s first ever commissioned composer, Matt Rogers was invited to create new work inspired by the Victoria line. Rogers’ project considers the Tube as a site of relocation in time and space, the rich possibilities of chance encounters and the unique ambient characters of the Underground, resulting in an new site-specific series of work to animate the Victoria line, from live performances, to recordings, installations and downloads.
Sunday 3 April 2016 was the first date in a series of sumptuous, one-off performances with players from London Sinfonietta on the Victoria line. From solo players to ensemble pieces, these events visually draw from the Victoria line’s unique tile motifs, with costumes designed by Jenny Hayton and graphic works by Fraser Muggeridge studio. If you have missed the performance on the 3rd, do not panic! You still have 3 more weekends to enjoy this amazing spectacle.
